Favorite socks

I realized I never blogged about one of Q's favorite socks:
They are knit with Lorna's Laces Camouflage. He wears these at least once a week. See how well they have held up? Another reason that Lorna's is one of my favorite yarns.

Matchiness

I'm finally posting these pics that I took 2 weeks ago. For Christmas I gave my brother some not-quite finished socks. On New Years I finished them (while hanging out with my other brother):
They are being modeled by my Father (who was very sad they weren't for him). I knit these with Opal yarn (thanks Maureen!). The main point was so that they would match Q's new socks:

I finished his right before his bedtime & he insisted on wearing them to bed (& 2 days after that). Q's are knit with Trekking yarn (actually managed to get the yarn from the destash blog). These are the only socks I have ever made completly match, strip for strip. Q said these are the best & most comfortable socks I have made so far. I really hope he doesn't lose his incredible sweetness in the upcoming teen years (only 3 years away..yikes).

I thought it would be cool (gotta use those pre-teen words now!) for Uncle & nephew to have kinda matching socks. Both were knit using the magic loop style, size 1 needles, and a version of the garter rib stitch from the Sensational Knitted socks book. I love this stitch. It's the one being used on all my socks at the moment.

And this picture is for my very good childhood friend in Germany with whom I've recently gotten in touch with again (Hi Manuela!). She asked me how I decorated the ouside of my house for Christmas. Well here is my house in all it's glory:

Yup 1 bow. How pathetic is that? I usually put more bows along the fence, but for some reason couldn't find the rest of them this year. That's it. That's all I usually do. Maybe I should call it the 'simplify your life' look. (Love that show. Has anyone else seen it?).
